Journey, 2022
Acrylic on canvas, Acrylic on wall, 65 x 62 cm
The piece features four A5 canvases with a five coloured continuous line snaking around the wall and on the canvases. This piece played with perception, causing it to appear as tho elements of the wall were raised, making the wall the main canvas.
This painting allowed me to explore using multiple canvases with painting going outside of the edge of the canvas. The wavy, continuous lines provided me with an opportunity to play with the eye of the viewer, creating a past for their eyes to follow, leading them around the entire piece of work smoothly in one motion. 'Journey' was successful in its experimentation and left me with inspiration for bigger and more intricate works utilising similar techniques.
Aiming to further explore painting in the expanded field, ‘Journey’ experiments with using multiple canvases to create the illusion that sections of the wall are fragmented and raised with a visual path for the eye to follow.
